Fishing communities are developing mangrove nurseries and visitor services that support local livelihoods. Explore their current activities, planned improvements, photographs and films.

Six communities are developing visitor experiences and promoting their businesses through local identities and Facebook pages.
Conservation education
At Tumnob Rolok, nursery work is accompanied by community cleanup and signs explaining mangroves and waste management.

Tumnob Rolok Fishery Tourism Community
Tumnob Rolok Fishery Tourism Community combines mangrove nursery work with locally managed coastal visits.
Current activities
The community has a nursery for 1,500 mangrove seeds and a floating raft that welcomes visitors.
Planned work
Members plan to adapt fishing boats for trips to see the mangroves, local fishing and birdlife.

Chong Ou Mangrove Beauty Ecotourism
Chong Ou Mangrove Beauty Ecotourism is a community initiative developed through COMET, with a visitor centre and mangrove nursery.
Current activities
The centre provides toilets for visitors, researchers and students. A nursery for 1,500 mangrove seeds supports visitor planting activities.
Community visits
Members are converting fishing boats for visitor trips. The community also describes fishing, birdwatching, wildlife observation and camping among its activities.

Banteay Prey Fishery Community
Banteay Prey Fishery Community brings locally managed visitor activities together with mangrove care.
Current activities
The community has built a visitor centre and established a nursery with 2,000 mangrove seedlings. Its visitor activities include community meals, camping and mangrove planting.
Work in progress
Two fishing boats are being converted for visitor trips through the mangroves.

Boeng Rang Fun Mangrove Ecotourism
Boeng Rang Fishery Community runs Boeng Rang Fun Mangrove Ecotourism, offering boat trips, birdwatching, fishing and mangrove planting.
Current activities
The community has a boat, a bamboo floating raft and a mangrove nursery, and is welcoming visitors.

Keo Phos Commune Mangrove Ecotourism
Keo Phos Commune Mangrove Ecotourism combines locally managed visitor services with mangrove nursery activities through COMET.
Current activities
A floating raft serves food, and a camping platform gives visitors a place to stay among the mangroves. Visitors can also take part in nursery planting activities.

Members have adapted fishing boats for short trips through the mangroves to see local livelihoods and coastal wildlife.

Bek Krong Fishery Community
Bek Krong Fishery Community is developing ecotourism alongside the fishing livelihoods supported by its mangroves.

Through COMET, the community is working on a visitor boat and a mangrove nursery. The photographs and film below show its mangrove waterways and mudflat wildlife.
