CAMBODIA MARINE RESEARCH
Duffy et al.: marine turtle population status and conservation in Cambodia
- Location
- Cambodian coast and islands
- Observation and publication dates
- 2023 publication; mixed historical surveys
- Evidence type
- peer-reviewed research synthesis
Findings
- The synthesis describes continued turtle presence alongside threats from bycatch, historical harvesting and habitat loss.
- The 2016 nesting-beach assessment found no nests. Later surveyed beaches also had non-detections, while an opportunistic February 2022 visit documented a green-turtle nest on an unnamed offshore island. The atlas does not invent a location for that nest.
What the evidence can tell us
The research combines surveys, interviews and historical reports. Earlier nesting records do not confirm that beaches remain active today.
