CAMBODIA MARINE RESEARCH
Kep coral reef and seagrass status assessment
- Location
- Kep islands, including Koh Seh, Koh Pou and Koh Tonsay
- Observation and publication dates
- Reefs 2014/15 and 2017; seagrass 2018; published 2019
- Evidence type
- peer-reviewed field study
Findings
- Reefs at three Kep islands were surveyed in 2014/15 and 2017; seagrass was surveyed separately in 2018. The paper reports increased fish density and diversity in the surveyed reefs.
- Changes in sampling effort and methods limit comparisons. The 2018 seagrass survey is a separate baseline. Abstract pp.24โ25; methods pp.26โ27.
How the evidence was collected
Three reef systems were surveyed in 2014/15 and again in 2017. Seagrass was surveyed separately in 2018. Survey effort changed, and the authors do not compare substrate cover between years because methods differed. Individual survey records are not yet integrated.

What the evidence can tell us
Some observations may also appear in MCC reports. Differences in sampling methods and effort limit comparisons through time.
